Is it quiet there?
We work very hard to keep our little motel a safe, friendly, comfortable, and yes, quiet place to relax. We ask all guests to keep noise to a minimum after 9 p.m. and on the rare occasion that it is necessary, talk to offending parties. It is our home, after all!
How far ahead of time do I need reservations?
We recommend guests make reservations at least a couple of weeks in advance for July and August weekends (longer for better selection), and as much as a year in advance for Independence Day, Kite Festival, Labor Day & Rod Run weekends. Unless you have a particular room in mind, or have special needs, reservations are not usually necessary for mid-week, mid-season or off-season visits.
How do I make a reservation?
We can arrange reservations via email or telephone. We accept pre-payment of the first night's rent, or a credit card to reserve your room(s). For your protection, please do not email credit card information. We don't charge your card prior to arrival, so you can choose to use a different card or pay cash when you check in if you prefer.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, traveler's checks, Visa, Mastercard and Discover. Payment by personal or business check is accepted only when received a minimum of 10 days prior to your arrival.
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
Because we frequently turn nice folks away in order to hold your reservation, we've had to institute a cancellation policy. We accept cancellations up to 14 days prior to arrival without penalty*. Cancellation 13 or fewer days before your arranged arrival results in a fee of 50% of the first night's rent. Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to make exceptions to this rule. No-shows are charged the entire first night's rent and remaining reserved nights are cancelled.
*Rod Run weekend reservations are the exception to the rule We accept cancellations up to 30 days prior to arrival without penalty. Cancellation 29 or fewer days before your arranged arrival results in a fee of 50% of the first night's rent.
What time are check in and check out?
Check in is 2:00 p.m., however, if you are in town earlier and would like to stop in to see if your room is ready, feel free! Check out is 11 a.m.
What's the difference between a kitchen and a kitchenette?
All of our housekeeping cottages come fully equipped with all of the dishes, pots and pans and utensils that the average family might need, as well as a refrigerator, microwave, in-room coffee, stove top and dining area. So what's the difference between a kitchen and a kitchenette? In a word: ovens. Kitchens have a baking oven. Kitchenettes don't. Please ask when you make your reservations and we will let you know what facilities are in your cottage.
May I bring my dog?
We welcome dogs of all ages and sizes, provided they and their people follow our simple rules: (1) Your dog MUST be housebroken. (2) Your dog MUST NEVER be left alone at the motel. We also ask that you use our pet area to keep our picnic and play areas clean and that you leash any dogs which might be aggressive. Dogs are $5.00 each per day.
The beach here in Seaview is a leash-free zone if you want it to be!
For those of you who want to be able to go out to dinner and not leave Spot or Fifi in the car, there are several local sitting services in our area.
What about other pets?
We accept other pets on approval. Please ask when you call for a reservation. We have had some bad experiences with cats and ferrets, so you'll have to convince us that your baby is well-behaved! ;-)
I need a wake-up call.
The rooms have alarm clocks for use during your stay. We think you will find it much more reliable than the proprietors...
Is there somewhere for us to have a picnic?
Each unit has its own small outdoor area with either a picnic table or a cafe table & chairs. We also have a common picnic area with kettle-style barbeques and picnic tables available for your use. We'll also gladly recommend close by picnic spots that are our favorites.
Will you help us find a charter boat?
We would love to! Give us a call to let us know what your needs are and we will find out who is offering the experience you are looking for. We will then call you back and provide you with a list of names and numbers so you can make your own decisions and reservations or, at your request, make reservations for you.
Is there a place to park my boat?
Absolutely. Cottage #2 and Cottage #5 each have yards which double as boat parking when needed. There is room to pull a truck and boat alongside the parking for Unit #4, which is used on a first ordered, first served basis. Make sure to let us know you need boat parking when you make your reservation so we can put you and your boat close together. We also have boat parking on the lot just south of the motel, where we have NEVER had a problem with vandalism or theft. Even if your boat isn't just outside your cottage window, it will be close by, safe and sound.
I am trying to find a place for my family's reunion. Can you help?
We hope so! We are pleased to host several family groups who return each year and are adding more happy families to that list annually!
How far is it to the beach?
We are at the beach approach road in the village of Seaview. (38th Place). That means it is paved all the way to the surf for cars, and with a sidewalk for pedestrians. Its about 3 little blocks through houses to the dunes, and about the same distance through the dunes to the surf, about a 5 minute walk.
Can we swim in the ocean?
Please don't! The mighty forces of the Pacific Ocean, Columbia River and Willapa Bay create unsafe conditions for swimming. Despite warnings to not go deeper than one's knees, lives are lost each year to the strong undertows. We can direct you to Waikiki Beach, in Fort Canby State Park, which is safe for swimming, and to our local public-access pools.
Is it true you can drive on the beach?
If you're brave! Our beach is a legally designated State Highway, with a speed limit of 25 mph and all the rules of the road. That means street legal vehicles, with licensed drivers can enjoy all 28 miles of our beach. It is patrolled, so expect a ticket if you don't follow the rules. From the end of May through mid-September, the stretch of beach from our Seaview approach north about 3 miles is closed to automobiles for the safety and enjoyment of pedestrians. You can drive south from our approach during the summer months. Stay on the hard pack, treat the sand like you're driving in snow, and watch those tides and sneaker waves! We advise only taking vehicles with 4-wheel drive and budgeting a tow, just in case.
